Manifolds are the control hub of wet underfloor heating systems. They manage water flow rates, regulate temperature and control pressure. Wet ufh has a series of pipes that pump water throughout your home which can be laid out in various patterns that create circuits. One circuit is used for each room and we refer to that as a zone. Each zone will connect to its own wet underfloor heating manifold.
Underfloor heating manifolds can control multiple zones at once. This enables each cone to be warmed at different temperatures depending on their use. Usually, zones would refer to individual rooms which can then be controlled by their own thermostat. Manifolds connect the circuits to your heat source such as a boiler or heat pump. They are responsible for circulating the water from your heat source to the pipes. Manifolds can support over 100m metres of pipe, so this makes them ideal for large installations and new builds.
