At Element Shop we offer a comprehensive range of ready mixed and cementitious tile adhesives suitable for variety of tile types and substrates for wall and floor applications. Whether you are installing electric underfloor heating or wet underfloor heating, our range of floor adhesives to suit your project.
No matter what type of underfloor heating you are putting in your home, electric or wet, if you are putting tiles down as your floor covering, you will need tile adhesive. Generally, you can use the same adhesives for tiles regardless of the type of installations but there are some exceptions which we’ll go into.
Electric underfloor heating comes in many forms. For example, we stock electric mats, foils, and loose cables. Generally, foils should only be used with laminate and hardwood floors so should not be required to be used with floor adhesives. Our cables and matting systems however can be used with tiled floors.
At element shop, we stock and advise our customers to use the Ultra Tile range of adhesives. They are a well known and trusted brand and have been supplying wall adhesives and floor adhesive for tiles used in underfloor heating applications for a long time. Their products are well manufactured and well recommended.
Applications for adhesives in underfloor heating
In Screed Cables
If you are using in screed cables that sit in up to 100mm, we would advise that you use ProRapid RS. This is because there won’t be much sub-floor movement and although the adhesive is flexible, it doesn’t need to be a high-performance flexible adhesive as it won’t have to deal with too much.
Matting and Loose Lay Cables
These types of installations are laid much closer to the surface and are therefore more like to be affected by movement. This means that you will need a lot more flexibility and an adhesive that is able to cope with constant temperature change. With wooden subfloors which suffer the most from movement, we would suggest the UltraTile Proflex SP as it is highly flexible and is able to cope with those temperature changes mentioned earlier. It is a single part, rapid set, cementitious tile adhesive which is specially formulated to achieve enhanced adhesion and flexibility in areas where slight movement or vibration can occur. The adhesive's unique qualities make it suitable for fixing glass, porcelain, mosaic and ceramic tiles to most common building substrates, including concrete/sand render, screeds, brick and block-work, heated sub floors, exisiting tiled surfaces and screwed and fixed over-boarded wooden floors. This is available in white and grey
The two other types of floor adhesives we stock are the ProFlex SPES and the ProFlex S2. ProFlex SPES is excellent for larger areas due to its longer setting time meaning that you don’t have to rush to tile an area before it sets. It is a single part, standard set, flexible, polymer modified tile adhesive. Specially formulated with extended workability for large format and intricate porcelain, ceramic and sealed natural stone tile work, the product has exceptional adhesion and flexural capacity, and is ideal for situations where vibration may occur.
The ProFlex S2 is the opposite and works well for small areas as it has a rapid setting time. The ProFlex S2 is a single part, flexible, fibre reinforced adhesive for wall and floor tiles. It is specially formulated for its enhanced adhesion and flexibility making it ideal for areas where slight movement or vibration can occur.
